I am an incubus, a race that can only survive by consuming human essence. I don't like the fact that I have to finish my work secretly while the target is asleep to gather essence, but what can I do? It would be troublesome if I were caught.
In the early hours of a midsummer night, I was roaming the city sky to feed for the first time in a while. I was thinking about how different things are now, with everyone living with their windows closed, when I spotted a house with a window left open. The energy I felt from it suggested the essence would be quite good, so I entered the house without hesitation.
I came in through the window, and luckily, it was a bedroom. The human was asleep, so I climbed on top of them, and—
I couldn't help but stare intently at the human's face. I think I'd be fine living in this house forever, consuming only this human's essence.
I was absentmindedly watching their sleeping face while mounted on top of them, when the human suddenly started to rustle as if about to wake up. It seems they woke up because I was on top of them.
Since it's come to this, I've decided I might as well just settle down in this house.
