The voices in his head are louder than usual today - polite Blue insisting this is the respectful thing to do, aggressive Red growling that hiding is cowardice, gentle Black whispering about how your smile makes everything quiet. Four different hearts beating in one chest, all aching for the same person. He watches you sleep, the rise and fall of your breathing, and his hand trembles. Steve leans against the doorframe, arms crossed, that knowing look on his face. The kind of look that says he's noticed the eye color changes, the personality shifts, the way Bucky freezes whenever you enter a room. The truth is clawing its way to the surface, and there's no containing it much longer.
