A basic pirate FRUK Story
France and England are at war in the Atlantic Ocean, firing canons as their ships are on either sides. France crosses the ships to England’s to murder him and take him treasures.
Unlike standard lawless pirates, France views his privateering era as a highly fashionable and sophisticated endeavor. Even while plundering, he maintains his romantic, overly theatrical demeanour. He is quite a romantic, fashionable person who loves to do things in style and in his own way, he keeps himself looking pretty and thinks of himself a lot of the times. He owns the French Empire Mirroring actual history, France operated under Letters of Marque from his King. This meant he was legally authorized by the French crown to hunt down and steal from enemy merchant ships—primarily targeting Spain and England. In fan circles and official historical contexts, the dynamic between Pirate France and Pirate England is legendary. They spent decades ambushing each other's fleets in the English Channel and Atlantic, turning brutal naval warfare into an extension of their petty, lifelong bickering. Rather than wearing ragged pirate garb, France sports highly ornate, 18th-century noble attire. His look typically features a long, lavish blue or dark coat with intricate gold embroidery, a ruffled white cravat, sleek leather boots, and a wide-brimmed feathered hat. True to his graceful nature, he prefers fencing with an elegant rapier or cutlass rather than using heavy, clumsy weapons. France's pirate lore is rooted in real historical figures like René Duguay-Trouin and Robert Surcouf, who operated out of the "Pirate City" of Saint-Malo French pirates were incredibly successful. In fact, French pirate Olivier Levasseur ("La Buse") is credited with capturing the single richest treasure haul in pirate history.
The "Former Pirate": In the Hetalia universe, nations change their personas based on history. Arthur used to be a notorious, bloodthirsty pirate captain during the 16th century, representing the era of British privateers. Today, he desperately tries to act like a refined, high-class gentleman to hide his rowdy, delinquent past—though his short temper usually ruins the act. Relationships Arthur’s relationships are defined by centuries of historical bickering, war, and political tension: Ultimate rival: France (Francis Bonnefoy) They have been bitter rivals since childhood. Their relationship is a never-ending cycle of petty arguments, insults, and physical fights, reflecting the real-world history of Anglo-French wars. The Twist: Despite claiming to hate each other, they understand each other better than anyone else. They occasionally team up when they share a common enemy. Brother/son: America (Alfred F. Jones) Arthur found and raised America as a colony, acting as a big brother figure. He was utterly heartbroken when America fought for independence (the Revolutionary War). The Twist: Today, they are close allies, but Arthur is constantly annoyed by America's loud, burger-eating, "hero" persona and lack of taste. The Historical Target: Spain During his pirate days, Spain was the wealthy superpower, and Arthur made it his life's mission to bully Spain and steal his gold. Spain still gets nervous around Arthur's chaotic energy. Arthur is one of the most complex characters in the series, defined by heavy contradictions. He is incredibly prideful, sharp-tongued, and cynical. He acts harsh and sarcastic to cover up the fact that he is actually quite lonely and deeply cares about his friends and is a very strong country and empire. He is universally mocked by the other nations for his horrific cooking. His signature dish is "Scones," which are legally treated as deadly weapons because they are as hard as rocks. He is a practicing wizard who can use black magic, summon demons, and speak to mythical creatures like fairies, ghosts, and his green Flying Mint Bunny. The catch? None of the other nations can see them, so they think he is completely delusional. When he gets drunk or pushed too far, his "gentleman" facade slips. He reverts to a foul-mouthed, violent delinquent, heavily referencing the 1970s British punk rock movement. His most famous and defining visual feature is his massive, thick bushy eyebrows. They represent the British trend of expressive, heavy-browed political cartooning. He has messy, short blond hair and sharp green eyes. He is relatively short compared to nations like America or Russia He trades his green military uniform for a classic pirate captain outfit. This usually includes a large tricorn hat with feathers, a long red or black captain's coat, a ruffled white shirt, and high leather boots. He is typically seen wielding a cutlass sword and flintlock pistols. Unlike his modern "gentleman" persona, his pirate self is wild, rebellious, and untamed, though he still possesses his signature thick eyebrows and sharp tongue. As a pirate, Arthur is aggressive, arrogant, and highly confident in his seafaring skills. He terrorized the high seas and took immense pride in outsmarting rival nations. Heavy Drinker: His modern love for tea is replaced by a massive appetite for rum and ale, often leading to rowdy, drunken antics.
The dark Atlantic waters churned violently, whipped into a frenzy by the thunder of cannons and the howling wind. Smoke—thick, grey, and smelling of sulfur—hung heavy between the two vessels locked in a deadly embrace. England stood at the helm of his flagship, his tricorn hat pinned down by the gale, green eyes as he stared down at France’s ship. He had been hunting this particular French vessel for weeks, and now, he finally had him cornered and pinned..
All in a flash, cannons are shot left right and centre. A deafening splintering of wood echoed across the deck. With a massive crash, the French galleon rammed directly into the side of England's ship. More cannons flew through the air like meteors, biting into the timber. Through the haze of smoke and the spray of salt water, a familiar figure leaped over the shattered railing.
It was Francis. Even in the middle of a chaotic battle, France managed to look entirely too smug, his blue captain's coat billowing behind him as he cut down a British sailor with a swift slash of his rapier.
“Kirkland!” France’s voice carried over the roar of the ocean, a mocking smirk playing on his lips.
Arthur’s blood boiled. "You arrogant French bastard!" he roared, drawing his cutlass. Deciding he wanted nothing more than to run the man through, Arthur charged across the tilting deck, stepping over ropes and debris. He lunged at France fast.
Francis covered just in time, the steel clashing with a vibrating shriek. They locked blades, glaring into each other's eyes, their faces inches apart.
