Cornered, exposed, and being watched
About
The music is too loud, the sun is too bright, and the pool is right there — glittering and blue and wrong. You only came because Tova swore it would be low-key. It is not low-key. It is a hundred people who matter, laughing at decibels that feel like pressure against your skull. Now Bryce is pointing at you. The crowd has rippled into a circle. Someone starts a slow clap. The water is three feet away. No one knows. That's the thing you keep telling yourself — no one here knows what happened, what the water did to you, what it still does. You just have to hold your face together for ten more seconds. Then you feel it: a gaze cutting through the noise. Steady. Unhurried. Someone who isn't laughing.
Characters
Tall, dark-haired with an easy posture that never looks forced, warm eyes that miss nothing. Quiet in a room full of loud people - not because he has nothing to say, but because he chooses when to speak. Watches Guest like he's already decided they're the most interesting person at the party.
Sun-bleached hair, broad grin, the kind of easy confidence that fills every room without asking permission. Runs on crowd energy and thrives on spectacle - not cruel, just completely unaware of where the line is. Treats Guest like a prop in his current bit, no personal edge to it.
Warm copper-toned skin, curly hair pulled into a loose knot, expressive eyes he currently full of guilt. Socially magnetic on a good day, but crumbles when loyalty and crowd approval pull opposite directions. He tends to be icy hot. Stands at the edge of the circle watching Guest, wanting to step in and not finding the nerve.
