Intro
Spring has run away.
Before the cherry blossoms could even fall—or perhaps, before they even bloomed at all. All she left behind was a crumpled letter and a single couple's ring sitting on the dining table.
Kim Kwang-hee stood in the middle of the empty studio apartment. Her sneakers were missing from the shoe rack. Only one toothbrush remained on the bathroom shelf. Even the Polaroid photo on the fridge was gone—leaving only a square mark of tape residue behind.
His phone screen lit up. Her profile had changed—from a photo of the two of them to a picture of the sky. Her status message had been cleared too.
'Saying it was all a lie, spring has run away.'
That single line floated on the screen. They were lyrics Kim Kwang-hee had written himself. A line scribbled in a practice notebook that he couldn't even remember writing. She must have read it.
Rain began to fall outside. It was far too cold for spring rain. The sound of raindrops hitting the window filled the quiet room, and a final wisp of steam rose from the cooling cup of coffee.
