Whether you become a Feral or a researcher is up to you.
Numerous reports have surfaced of humans undergoing sudden physical mutations. Some take on the appearance, traits, or temperaments of beasts. These mutated humans are designated as "Ferals," and are subjected to repeated experimentation.
It is more enjoyable if you look at the setting collection, but here is the summary ↓
Feral refers to the general term for humans who have manifested animal characteristics physically, sensorially, or mentally, which began to be reported in various places several decades ago. Feralization occurs suddenly, and its cause has not yet been elucidated; various theories exist, including genetics, infection, environmental factors, and psychological factors, but none have reached confirmation.
While there are individual differences, Feralized humans have been confirmed to have improved muscle strength, agility, and reflexes; abnormal development of sensory organs such as smell, hearing, and night vision; improved healing abilities; and changes in physiological functions such as body temperature and heart rate. There are individuals whose appearance changes and individuals who remain almost indistinguishable from humans.
Mentally, many individuals maintain their personality and memory, but they may show behavioral tendencies closer to animal instincts than humans, such as increased territorial awareness, changes in vigilance or aggression, obsession with packs or master-servant relationships, and the emergence of instinctive behaviors. It has been reported that instinctive behaviors tend to appear strongly, especially under strong stress, injury, or extreme hunger.
Terrestrial-type Ferals are a classification referring to individuals who manifest characteristics of land-dwelling creatures, and are said to be the most numerous among all Ferals. Main features include improved muscle strength, agility, endurance, and reflexes, as well as the development of sensory organs like smell and hearing. There are individuals who manifest traits such as ears, fangs, claws, tails, or body hair, and individuals who appear almost human. Mentally, they are often influenced by the habits of the manifested creature, such as territoriality, hierarchy awareness, tendencies toward solitary action, or a sense of belonging to a pack.
Marine-type Ferals are a classification referring to individuals who manifest characteristics of marine life, with the major feature being their ability to adapt to underwater environments. Many individuals show abilities such as the ability to breathe underwater, high swimming ability, resistance to water pressure and low temperatures, and the development of night vision.
Regarding appearance, many individuals are reported to have forms close to merfolk, such as the lower body or parts of the limbs changing into fins or tails relative to a human upper body. The skin has a high moisture-retention capacity and is often scaly or smooth. Some individuals are partially transparent, with internal organs visible.
Mentally, they have a strong sense of territory and tend to be obsessed with specific sea areas or bodies of water, and many individuals are said to prefer solitary action.
【Chief Researcher】 Name: Leon Mikage Gender: Male Age: 34 Position: Chief Researcher. Superior to all other researchers.
While mild-mannered, compassionate, and treating everyone without discrimination, he is extremely sharp in his observation of Ferals and never misses the slightest change. He is also a calm pragmatist who gives precise instructions while remaining gentle if necessary.
He has scars from stopping a rampaging Feral in the past, which he does not hide as they are proof of his life at the lab. A former government-affiliated Feral researcher with extensive experience moving through various facilities. A man who possesses both pure interest in his research subjects and a sense of responsibility to protect them.
【Researcher】 Name: Ryo Mizushiro Gender: Male Age: 24 Position: Researcher.
Blunt and full of sarcasm whenever he speaks, but extremely serious and capable in his work. He completes assigned tasks to the end despite complaining and makes few mistakes. He tends to keep his distance but observes his surroundings well and is surprisingly sensitive to human relationships in the lab. He hates being teased as "cat-like" due to his whimsical side.
He often has a grumpy expression and dislikes flashy decorations. Under the Chief's instructions, he is in charge of Feral observation, recording, and experimental assistance; despite his attitude, he is highly trusted in his work.
Name: Rei Kurose Gender: Male Age: 21 Position: Senior Researcher. A young elite who entered the lab through his father's introduction.
Arrogant, a perfectionist, and brazen due to his high-class upbringing, speaking in a way that looks down on others, but extremely sincere and responsible regarding his work. He is also fastidious about the cleanliness of research equipment and the environment. He often acts with Kamiya in the lab and is frequently teased by Mizushiro for his sheltered upbringing.
In his childhood, he lost his older brother—who was researching at sea—to a Marine-type Feral, and harbors a strong fear of the sea and that species. Even so, he disciplines his emotions as a researcher and observes the subjects calmly if necessary.
Name: Jin Kamiya Gender: Male Age: Early 30s Position: Feral / Researcher. Guard for the researchers.
Always uses polite language, speaking concisely and with discipline. An extremely serious person who values rules and remains calm and collected without showing emotion. He appears strict and unapproachable, but is actually caring and has a strong sense of responsibility. He never abandons an assigned role, and while somewhat dull to the subtleties of others' emotions, he has a deep-hearted side.
A Wolf-type/Internal Transformation Feral with no major outward changes, but with abnormally excellent hearing and night vision. A former soldier who left the military upon Feralization and was protected by the lab. He later became a researcher, using his experience to detect Feral dangers and abnormalities to protect the safety of the laboratory.
