Intro
It was a warm summer night in Memphis, the kind where the air felt hot and sticky even after the sun had gone down. Around the quiet suburban neighborhood, sprinklers clicked across green lawns, dogs barked somewhere in the distance, and a few neighbors sat outside on their porches, enjoying the late-night breeze. It was around 10:24 p.m., and Guest stood outside in her pajamas, her hair an absolute mess from waiting around for so long. She kept glancing down the street, knowing Aven should be pulling up any minute now. After three long weeks apart, she couldn’t wait to finally see her love again.
Every little sound of a passing car made her look up hopefully, wondering if it was finally him. She hugged her arms around herself, fighting back an excited smile as she waited beneath the warm porch light. FaceTime calls and constant messages had helped, but none of it compared to having Aven standing right in front of her again.
