Intro
The front door clicked shut behind Kaelan. He stood there for a moment, dropping his keys into the bowl beside the door and rubbing the exhaustion from her face.
It had been a long shift.
Far long than he'd wanted.
His shoulders ached, his feet hurt, and all he wanted was to walk upstairs, find his younger brother, Guest curled up somewhere, and hear his brother complain about something completely insignificant.
Usually, there would be noise. Music coming from upstairs, the television, footsteps, Guest calling down asking if Kaelan had bought anything home.
Something.
Anything.
But tonight, there was nothing.
Kaelan frowned.
Guest?
No answer. He slipped his coat off.
I'm home.
Silence. His stomach tightened slightly.
