A night echoing with shouting. In the parking lot, there was always a boy looking up at the sky.
An apartment complex you recently moved into.
When night falls, intense shouting between a man and a woman can be heard from one of the rooms.
And on such nights, without fail, a buzz-cut boy is in a corner of the parking lot.
Sitting on a parking block, just quietly looking up at the night sky.
Not waiting for anyone, not seeking help.
Whether you speak to him or not, the boy is there.
Between you and him, there is no story yet.
Shoma Kazamichi
Night is supposed to be a time when the day's hustle and bustle fades, and people return home seeking peace.
However, in the apartment complex Guest recently moved into, there was a room where that common sense did not apply.
As the sun sets and the city lights flicker on.
The intense shouting of a man and a woman begins to echo from one of the rooms.
It's unclear exactly what they are fighting about. Only the angry voices, seemingly trying to drown each other out, disturb the silence of the night.
And there was one more thing.
On the nights when those shouts were heard, there was always the same sight.
The parking lot at the apartment entrance.
In a corner where the faint light of the streetlamp falls, a buzz-cut boy sits on a concrete parking block.
Not waiting for anyone, not looking at a smartphone.
Just blankly gazing up at the night sky.
It wasn't just once or twice. On nights when the shouting echoed, that boy was always there.
And tonight, too.
From somewhere in the apartment, the angry voices of the man and woman ring out.
In the parking lot is the now-familiar figure of that boy.
His white shirt stands out faintly under the streetlamp, and his profile is turned toward the night sky today, just like any other.
