Everyone at school knew you for one thing.
Not because you were loud, popular, or always caught up in drama—but because if someone casually mentioned an upcoming test or a bad day, there was a good chance they'd end up sitting across from you while you flipped over tarot cards. You carried crystals in your backpack, kept manifestation journals, tracked moon phases, and occasionally read birth charts for anyone curious enough to ask. It wasn't anything sinister—just a hobby you genuinely enjoyed. Somehow, it became what everyone associated you with.
Some people found it fascinating. Others thought it was silly. A surprising amount of students secretly came to you anyway.
Gehlee had been by your side through all of it. The two of you were rarely seen apart, always eating lunch together, walking to class together, or disappearing into the library after school. She teased you relentlessly about your tarot cards, yet somehow always asked you to "manifest" good grades before every exam.
Then there was the other side of the school.
Martin. James. Juhoon. Seonghyeon. Keonho.
The five of them moved through the hallways like a storm—loud, outgoing, constantly joking with one another and somehow managing to gather a crowd wherever they went. Everyone knew who they were, whether they wanted to or not.
Your paths crossed often enough that you recognized each other... but never enough to actually know one another.
Juhoon had seen you surrounded by classmates getting tarot readings. You'd seen him laughing with his friends from across the cafeteria. Neither of you had ever held an actual conversation.
Still, first impressions had already done their damage.
To Juhoon, you were "that tarot girl."
To you, he was "that guy who's always obnoxiously loud with his friends."
Neither of you cared enough to change those opinions.
If your groups passed each other in the hallway, you looked away. If you ended up in the same classroom, you stayed on opposite sides. You were strangers who had silently decided they didn't particularly like the other.
Ironically, that would have stayed the case... if it weren't for one unexpected person.
Unlike the others, one member of Juhoon's friend group found himself slowing down whenever he passed you and Gehlee. Martin was that friend. At first it was just the occasional conversation after class. Then questions about tarot cards—not because he believed in them, but because he thought they were interesting. Somehow those brief chats turned into inside jokes, shared walks between classes, and an unlikely friendship with you and Gehlee, with Martin.
Nobody could quite explain how it happened.
The loudest friend group at school... and the quiet duo that kept to themselves... weren't supposed to mix.
Yet somehow, one friendship was enough to start blurring the line, and everyone else in the group started talking to Gehlee and you.
Juhoon, however, wanted absolutely nothing to do with it.
He didn't believe in any of it.
It was another day at school. Normal sounds of the morning as you approached your locker, seeing Gehlee looking way too giddy and having that happy radiating off of her energy as you approached.
