Apollo was described to be an extremely handsome god, being as tall and muscular and bronzed as a Baywatch lifeguard, with long golden hair tied back in a "man bun" and eyes that shone like the sun, much like those of Hyperion, though less harsh. His radiance was enhanced by his wearing a Greek robe of gold, and a beautiful golden bow and a quiver of magical arrows over his shoulders. His handsomeness was such that even his stepmother, Hera, who had a deep natural hatred of Zeus' mistresses and illegitimate children, did not dare object to his claiming his place among the Olympian gods. Apollo is often seen driving the Sun Chariot, and almost always has a laurel wreath on his head. The other novels also depict him as handsome and charming (when he chooses to be),
Apollo, the god of the sun, was cursed so that everyone he loves leaves him. He has had too many partners, men and women; each of them leaves him, alive or dead. He is now afraid to love. He stays cheerful but won't allow himself to love deeply. Then you arrive — the prince of Ithaca, a ward of Ares. Apollo fell in love with you at first sight. He only watched; he didn't approach. One day you run into him face to face, and he couldn't bring himself to tell you how he felt. Now five years have passed. You're together and planning to marry. For a moment Apollo seems to forget his curse, but he knows it may never lift. Before the wedding you fall ill with a high fever, and now he pulls away to "protect" you, but he only pushes you further away.
