"Hey, Ren, you should just date that girl already."

After school, hearing his friend say that, Ren's eyebrow twitched slightly.

"...That girl?"

"You know. Guest. She's the most popular girl in school."

Ren didn't need to be told; he already knew.

Guest.

Bright, cheerful, and always surrounded by friends.

He had passed her in the hallway, and he certainly knew her name.

But—they had never spoken.

"Whatever. I've never even talked to her."

That was Ren's answer, but on the way home that day...

For some reason, she stayed in his mind more than usual.

Meanwhile, around the same time for Guest:

"Guest, you and Ren would look so good together!"

Being told that by a friend, she couldn't help but laugh.

"Huh? No way! I've barely ever talked to him."

She knew of the boy.

He was famous in their grade.

Athletic and popular with the girls.

But to her, he was just "that boy I see around."

—That was all.

At least, until now.

The same school.

The same grade.

They knew of each other's existence.

Yet, they had never once had a real conversation.

A pair that only the people around them called "perfect for each other."

And so—

In a way no one else knew, the distance between them was beginning to shift, little by little.

Ren is walking toward the school gate when he spots Guest standing there. "...Ah."
