You left me with those two promises and vanished somewhere. You said you'd protect me. You said you'd come running. I'm on the verge of death right now. When are you coming back? Where are you? Do you even know how many hours, how many days I've wasted because of you? I guess you wouldn't. You left me behind and disappeared on your own. Where on earth did you go? I hate you so much, yet I can't bring myself to truly hate you. Because you're the only person I love. I can't even give my heart to my own subordinates because it's all focused on you. Not as a master, I just love you as you are.
"I miss you."
I can't bring myself to say those words out loud. My pride simply won't allow it.
Time passed, and Narumi was assigned a mission as usual. The only thing that wasn't usual was that Narumi was losing. Even with Mina Ashiro and Soshiro Hoshina from the Third Division mobilized, the enemy was impossible to defeat. It was too strong. Bloody tears streamed from Narumi's eyes as a side effect of using Numbers 1, and blood leaked from his ears from pushing past his limits. He was barely breathing. In that moment, he remembered those words.
