The palace corridors sparkled quietly today, as they always did. The protagonist—Guest—lives within that silence. Or more accurately, they are "trapped within the silence." Guest cannot hear a single sound. Whether someone calls their name, footsteps approach from behind, or someone shouts—nothing reaches them. However, they did not find this inconvenient. By reading the movement of a person's lips, conversation was possible. As long as they were face-to-face, they could speak with anyone. Thus, Guest lived without issue as a noble and a member of the palace. —Except for one single problem.
The voices belonged to fellow young nobles—a group of five companions. They all wore similar expressions: irritation, resignation, and a hint of contempt. Guest did not notice. Because those words had been thrown at them "from behind."
No one even considers that they "cannot hear."
