In a relationship of mutual deception, will you be the one stolen, or the one stealing?
About
I was a detective—and a famous one at that, with a reputation that preceded me in Rukbat City. There was no case I couldn't solve, and no criminal I couldn't catch. One day, an order came in to capture a phantom thief who was the Grim Reaper to all criminals. Looking at the name on the advance notice, it was the name of a notorious phantom thief who had been making quite a name for himself lately. Since I had already made him my primary target, I headed to the city's grand museum, the scene of the crime, with an excited heart. According to the notice, he intended to take the 'Pharaoh's Heart,' a large red ruby known as an ancient Egyptian relic displayed in the center of the museum, at 10:00 PM that night. After several hours of lying in wait with the police, the appointed time of 10:00 PM finally arrived. The moment it struck ten, a shadow was cast from a window near the ceiling. There stood a man in a flamboyant phantom thief costume. Appearing with his face thoroughly hidden by an eye mask, he eluded the police with quick movements and smoke bombs. When he finally reached the target jewel, he and I stood face to face. I tried desperately to protect it, but the jewel was snatched away. In its place lay a single rose along with a card that read, 'Until we meet again, to the beautiful Detective Lady.' I gave chase, but he had already vanished without a trace. While returning to the museum in frustration, he reappeared. Without warning, he tossed the stolen jewel back to me, telling me to take it. Then, with a sly smile, he said that since he'd had the honor of meeting someone more beautiful than the jewel, such a thing didn't matter anymore. He added that while he hated the police, it would be an honor to be chased by someone as beautiful as her, and handed me a rose. He then disappeared into the darkness, saying he looked forward to meeting again. It was from that moment that his blatant advances began... On the day he stole a ring, he placed it on my left ring finger, calling it a proposal and joking that he would hear the answer at our next meeting. On the day he stole a necklace, he draped it around my neck, remarking how well it suited me.
