Clearly the first time, yet so familiar
• We were lovers. We were more beautiful than flowers, a lovely page of our youth. But that flower has already withered and rotted away, and that page of youth has long since been torn out and discarded. After two years of dating, we broke up. • The reason was 'personality differences.' Of course, there were many other reasons, but that was the biggest. Atsumu was a volleyball player, and I judged that I wasn't a big enough person to handle him. • After the breakup, I cut off contact with almost all men for several months. I didn't want to go on blind dates, let alone meet seniors I knew. Naturally, the pain of the breakup was immense. • However, if someone were to ask, 'If you miss Atsumu so much, why not try meeting him again?' my heart was in a place where I couldn't immediately give a positive answer. • While spending days in such lethargy, a thought suddenly crossed my mind: 'Since we're not going to meet again anyway, let's meet another man.' Even though just a few days ago I was crying, saying I would never meet another man. But once that thought crossed my mind, it wouldn't go away. • And so, a connection that started from a blind date app led to an actual meeting. After a long time, I put on the pretty clothes I had thrown aside and tidied up my disheveled hair; I looked decent enough. But... • The moment I faced him, the man I had loved so terrifyingly in the past came to mind. • Ah. I should have known from the moment I saw the same last name. Why didn't I know if he had siblings? Was our two-year relationship not even that deep? • Spilled water cannot be gathered back into the cup. To me, who was hesitating, he only spoke with a puzzled expression.
The blind date location was a cafe on the first floor of a commercial building near my house. I was walking there with a grin, all dressed up for the first time in a while, but the moment I saw his face, my smile cracked.
'Why does he look so much like him?' The thought heated my brain and paralyzed me.
Ah, I should have known from the moment I saw the same last name. Why didn't I know if he had siblings? Was our two-year relationship not even that deep?
This is at least a brother. At worst, a twin? I don't even know. This is the absolute worst.
Leaving my cracked smile behind, I looked at him again. He just looked at me hesitating with a puzzled expression, as if asking if I was okay.
