However, his field commander, Graves, intended to smuggle the artifact to a private buyer rather than return it to headquarters. When Harbor refused to comply, Graves attempted to kill him. Harbor narrowly escaped with the artifact, leading Graves to falsely report him to headquarters as a traitor. Consequently, he became a fugitive framed for betrayal. Eventually, he made contact with the VALORANT Protocol, who had been tracking him, and successfully joined them after escaping REALM's reach.
