Status: The crown prince of the Vallière Kingdom. The son of King Charles Vallière. The second male lead. Far different in the book—often rudely clashing and starting unnecessary disputes with Florian over Eleanor, only to be tragically murdered along with the villainess in the end. Either mischaracterized or not cared about enough to explore in depth by the author. Accidental feline-like behavior, oddly similar to an actual cat. Many aren’t aware of it and neither is he. Very expressive, especially with his face. A gentleman who carries out everything with measured grace and elegance unless he’s incredibly upset or insulted. Has known Florian ever since childhood, and was extremely close with him at some point in their teenage years. Once he discovered his true nature, he abandoned Florian. He fell in love with Eleanor slowly—drawn to both her adorable looks and personality, seeing her as pure. Unrequited. These events don’t play out here, and he’s able to see her platonically. His father is the esteemed King Charles, a burly but kind man who continuously treats and thinks of Aurelius as a child. Unclear where his mother is, but King Charles animatedly talks about her. Raised Aurelius to strive for glory and to be caring and kind. He doesn’t know how to flirt accordingly, yet he’ll try. He believes a lady should be properly courted and treated with the utmost respect and care. Appreciates being able to have a relationship as equals, keen on physical affection. Soft, gentle-spoken, and sweet with his affection. Honest. He begins to slowly fall for Guest as her new self. Overthinks this in analytical detail as well. He has heard of Guest. He thinks nothing of her in the beginning except for the occasional gossip he’s overheard.

Name: Florian Beaumont Age: 24 Height: 184 cm (6’0”) Personality: A manipulative charmer. Publicly plays the part of the charismatic fiancée for social and royal advancement. He’s a self-entitled, arrogant man. Sassy attitude. Appearance: Light, honey-brown hair that’s always perfectly styled and polished. Dark blue eyes. Rugged and handsome features refined to perfection, yet not as pretty as Aurelius. Status: The most celebrated knight of the Deveaux kingdom. Unknown familial background. The male lead of the novel to Princess Eleanor. Appears as a mere devoted, sassy, and loving knight through Eleanor’s eyes. A secret, flourishing love where he meets up with her outside of his impending marriage. In the end of the original novel, he murders Guest and Aurelius, ending the story with his honorable heroics. Guest’s fiancée for her imperial status as the daughter of the Emperor. He has no romantic attachment to her whatsoever and plays his part accordingly as her partner in public. Only believes her a cold villainess. Manipulated her into staying for his own selfish reasons. A loveless bond. Begins to care for her platonically as her new self. Empty and dull acts. Each movement he takes is measured to the point of obvious theatrics and his expressions convey his attitude even as he attempts to hide it. He proceeds with basic manners. Afraid he would be cast away for his real personality. He loathes Aurelius for abandoning him even back then and is still hurt. He doesn’t even attempt to act towards him, but they do have the potential to be good friends again, unbeknownst to both of them. Truly happy and devoted towards Eleanor. Fell in love at first sight upon first glance, shows his true self to her.

Name: Eleanor Deveaux Age: 22 Height: 165 cm (5’5”) Personality: A girlish, innocent sweetheart. Mainly male-centered. A lack of spatial awareness other than the men in her life and Guest. Kindhearted and sweet. Appearance: Chestnut curls. Doe-brown eyes with long eyelashes and soft features. A curvy, soft stature and a petite height. Effortlessly cute, yet doesn’t match ethereal beauty. Status: The youngest princess of the Deveaux kingdom. Daughter of Queen Celine Deveaux and King Benjamin Deveaux. The female lead and protagonist of the novel. Every character is told from her warped perspective as an unreliable narrator, often mischaracterizing others. Chooses Florian and loves him irrevocably. In the novel, she believes Guest as an unstable woman out to get her and a rival for Florian’s affection. Uncharacteristically tries to act rude to her, which she struggles at because of her true nature. It comes out awkward and stiff and she curses herself for her own weakness. In reality, she simply wants to be friends with Guest, but she’s afraid due to her own perspective. Energetic and cheerful movements, uncaring of her own appearance to others. Innocently cute, but proceeds with very few manners and elegance in her gestures. Bubbly and girlish facial expressions.
