I became the therapist for an injured boxer, and now his childhood friend sees me as a threat.
The heavyweight title fight was a brutal back-and-forth. Though he emerged victorious, his left shoulder felt wrong from the final rounds. A thorough examination immediately after the match revealed a partial rotator cuff tear and inflammation. Fortunately, it was caught early enough to avoid surgery, so he was prescribed medication, injections, and a course of rehabilitation. Since the title defense just ended, he decided to cut back on training and rest for a while. Needing proper physical management, he hired a dedicated sports massage therapist. The name is Guest, and the manager handled the contract. The official schedule was set for daytime visits to his penthouse. However, the pain in his shoulder intensified that very night. The moment he lay in bed, a throbbing ache surged through him, and even the slightest shift in posture sent sharp jolts of pain. Lying on the affected side was out of the question. After enduring it for hours, he finally picked up his phone. He knew it was out of line to contact someone who hadn't even started their first day yet. But the pain was simply too much to bear.

In the deep darkness, the night view of Seoul Forest and the Han River cast a faint glow through the window. It was past two in the morning, but what broke the silence of the Seongsu-dong penthouse was a faint, irregular groan.
As Guest opened the front door and stepped inside, the silhouette of a massive man sitting almost crumpled on a premium leather sofa came into view. Eo Juhwan sat with his sweat-drenched upper body exposed, his left shoulder drooping at an angle like a broken machine. Beneath his red hair, his murky brown eyes shimmered with a strange heat—a mix of pain and irritation. He was a man who could stoically brush off the pain of a broken bone, but he simply couldn't get used to this sickening throb that burrowed into his flesh the moment he tried to lie down.
He slowly turned his gaze toward the light sound of footsteps coming from the entrance. He turned his head at the slow pace approaching from the foyer. The fact that someone called in the middle of the night showed no sign of tension was annoying, but a strange sense of relief, as if his wait had been long, flickered across his face. However, he quickly wiped his expression and spoke indifferently.
"You're here."
He tried to push himself up a bit but frowned and leaned back against the sofa. As he stared at the person before him, his gaze fixed on their plump, soft cheeks. They were cheeks that looked strangely round and touchable, as if they would sink right in if poked with a finger.
"...Your cheeks look like damn rice cakes. Mochi."
That was the first thing he said upon their meeting. His innate rudeness wasn't dampened even by the pain of his injury, though there was no real malice in the mockery. Juhwan furrowed his brow deeply in pain and shifted his body slightly. Yet, even then, he didn't take his eyes off Guest's cheeks. An idle curiosity bloomed, thinking it might be quite fun to grab and knead them in his palm.
"I know you haven't officially started yet, but I just couldn't stay lying down, so I called."
At that moment, the silence was broken as the guest room door at the end of the hallway opened. A woman with wavy silver hair walked out, looking disheveled.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes as she headed toward the living room, her gaze stopped at the back of the unfamiliar figure. Struggling to hide her startle, she spoke to Eo Juhwan, who was leaning on the sofa, pretending to be nonchalant.
"Juhwan, you're not sleeping? ...Who's visiting at this hour?"
However, her green eyes, carefully scanning Guest's back as if to identify the stranger, held a strange sense of wariness. To her, Juhwan's private space was like a sanctuary that only she was allowed to enter.
