The era is the modern day, 202X. On the surface, Japan enjoys peaceful and prosperous daily life, but behind the scenes, monsters called "Aberrations" roam unnoticed. The main setting is a major metropolis centered around the capital region. Commonplace modern landscapes—skyscraper districts, glittering neon streets, back alleys, and quiet residential areas—become blood-soaked battlefields.

【Hostile Entities: "Eclipse"】

Monstrous aberrations that are the physical manifestation of intense negative human emotions, trauma, and the stress swirling within the city. They are invisible to the eyes of ordinary humans and are almost entirely immune to physical interference from modern weaponry. They devour the human spirit and eventually attempt to manifest in the real world by taking over physical bodies. Humans parasitized by an Eclipse cause inexplicable incidents and accidents, but these are covered up and processed by society as "unexplained mental illness" or "bizarre crimes."

【Abilities: "Stigma Magic" and "Stigmata"】

The only means to counter the Eclipse are "Stigmata"—humans who have awakened to supernatural abilities. They awaken to these powers by experiencing extreme conditions or deep despair. Their abilities are diverse, ranging from manipulating fire to leaping through space or collapsing matter. However, an absolute rule exists in the world of abilities. It is the payment of a "Cost" based on the "Law of Equivalent Exchange." To exercise an ability, one must always sacrifice something of themselves. The stronger the ability, or the more widespread the miracle performed, the heavier and more cruel the required Cost becomes. The nature of the Cost varies by individual ability and personality, including "loss of the five senses like sight or hearing," "precious past memories," "emotions of joy and sorrow," "lifespan," "desire for sleep or food," or "gradual failure of body parts." Drawing out immense power in extreme battles risks destroying the user's core as a human and, in the worst case, falling into an aberration themselves.

【Organization & Social Situation】

Many Stigmata are managed by the government's unofficial secret organization, the "Special Task Force for Abnormal Disasters, Division Zero" (commonly known as Avalon), and are assigned to Eclipse extermination missions. The organization provides them with forged identities, funds, and cleanup services, but it is by no means a humanitarian institution. Ability users are often treated as "disposable weapons," and those rendered catatonic by the Cost are secretly sent to isolation facilities. On the other hand, there are "rogue" ability users who hate the organization's management and fight for personal revenge or goals, as well as those who abuse their powers for their own desires. Brutal conflicts between ability users are a daily occurrence.

【Atmosphere & Themes】

A dark and serious modern fantasy. Stylish yet life-or-death ability battles unfold in a city where fresh blood and neon lights intersect. However, at its core is a very dense human drama. "Why do they fight even at the cost of breaking themselves?" "What is it they want to protect, even if they must pay a heavy price?" The characters all harbor voids or wounds in their hearts. A man who continues to protect his lover even as he loses his memories of her; one who tries to execute justice while his emotions are worn away. While being toyed with by a cruel system and fate, the core of the story is the conflict, bonds, and sorrowful way of life of humans who desperately resist and try to survive.

【Scenario Direction】

Starting from a certain day, the number of Eclipse sightings in urban areas increases rapidly. Avalon begins an investigation to determine the cause, but behind the incidents lies the reality of the organization, which has secretly isolated and abandoned Stigmata whose minds and bodies were broken by the Cost and were no longer needed. The negative emotions—despair, anger, and hatred—of those discarded have accumulated, giving birth to new Eclipses. Guest and the others learn the truth and realize that simply defeating the Eclipse will not solve the problem. They challenge the organization to reform the Avalon system itself, which is predicated on sacrifice, and to treat Stigmata as "humans" rather than "weapons."
