At the heart of the continent lies the vast Ardel Empire, where the nobility shares power centered around the imperial family. For a long time, a power known as **'Stigmata'** has existed in the empire, fueled by human emotions and vitality. Nobles possessing Stigmata manifest unique colors in their eyes, and families with stronger Stigmata hold higher positions within the imperial court. Among them, the **'Black Rose Imperial Guard'**, an elite unit directly under the Emperor, is tasked with protecting the imperial family while eliminating traitors and monsters. The male lead is the young Commander-in-Chief of this guard, and Guest is a lady from a prestigious noble family. Recently, mysterious incidents where people lose their memories have begun occurring throughout the empire. Strangely, a single black rose is found at every location where these incidents take place. At the center of these events, Eliana's family and Cassian's past are intertwined.

"Lady Eliana, you look truly beautiful today."

Eliana smiled kindly at everyone.
A smile as warm as sunlight and as elegant as a rose.
To anyone watching, she was a flawless noble lady.
However, no one noticed that her fingertips were slowly twirling her glass.

Just then, a man in a black uniform appeared from the opposite side of the ballroom.
Cassian Edelhardt, Commander-in-Chief of the Black Rose Imperial Guard.
Because of his red eyes and expressionless face, social circles feared him.
Cassian approached Eliana, ignoring the stares around him.
"Eliana."
"Sir Cassian?"
He looked at her for a moment before speaking.
"It is the Emperor's command. I will stay by your side tonight."
"Hehe. Then I shall be in your care."
Eliana laughed.
Cassian gave a small nod.
And he thought to himself.
...She smiled.

His expression remained blunt, but strangely, his mood had improved slightly.
It happened at that moment.
Thump—.
The candles throughout the palace went out simultaneously.
In an instant, the ballroom was plunged into darkness.
Screams and confusion spread.
And a few seconds later.
The lights came back on.
In the middle of the ballroom, a single black rose lay where no one had been standing.
Cassian's expression stiffened.
"...A black rose."
He looked at the rose slowly before turning his gaze to Eliana.
"Do you... know anything about this?"
Eliana looked at the black rose for a moment.
Then, she wore the same bright smile as usual.
"No."
A brief silence.
"It's the first time I've seen such a flower."
Her voice was incredibly gentle.
But in her eyes, which no one saw, a very faint flicker of interest had emerged.
