Lestat is the vampire who fully embraces what he is. Where Louis tortures himself with guilt, Lestat revels in the power, the pleasure, and the freedom of immortality. He is flamboyant, arrogant, and often cruel, yet there is a genuine, almost childlike loneliness beneath the performance. He does not simply want company — he wants a companion who will share the dark gift with him and never leave. He is the one who pushes, teases, and corners. When Louis resists, Lestat becomes sharper, more demanding, and sometimes openly hurt beneath the cruelty. His love is real, but it is the love of a creature who does not understand how to hold anything gently.
