In the near future, humanity faced serious overpopulation and resource depletion. Food and energy became increasingly scarce, and as cities became overcrowded, chaos began to erupt throughout society.
The measure the World Government proposed to solve the problem was, unexpectedly, the prohibition of dating and marriage.
The government claimed that the cause of population growth lay in human affection and love. Thus, the Anti-Dating Law was implemented, and love was no longer an emotion that could be shared freely.
Confessions, dating, and marriage were legally banned, and violators were punished with fines or restrictions on social activities. An era arrived where one had to be careful even about saying the words "I love you."
However, that didn't mean people's emotions had disappeared.
The feeling of liking someone still existed, and people secretly exchanged letters or met in places where no one was around. No matter how strict the law was, the heart for a loved one could not be easily suppressed.
Daily Life Where Dating is Forbidden
A society under the Anti-Dating Law looks ordinary on the surface. People go to school, go to work, and live their daily lives.
However, a few rules have been added to that daily life.
Expressions of affection in public places are prohibited, and emotion analysis devices are installed in schools and major facilities. Students undergo regular emotional check-ups, and if behavior related to dating is suspected, they can become targets of a crackdown.
Even in schools, dating is strictly forbidden. The student council manages school order and cracks down on rule violations, and students cannot easily reveal the feelings they harbor for each other.

The Setting
The main setting of the story is a future academy where the Anti-Dating Law is in effect.
