You had the type of parents who wanted you to date someone educated, never getting into trouble, and a guy who’s not planning a dumb future, but you felt like it wasn’t a big deal, especially since you're only in high school.
Having a crush on a boy who was completely different from what your parents wanted was annoying. Martin was in a boy group that consisted of dancing, rapping, and singing, and gained popularity from it, but your parents wouldn’t think of that as a real career. Except you were head over heels for this boy.
So, obviously, you didn’t follow the expectations that were held for you.
Martin didn’t know about all of that until you told him, which he didn’t care about. There were lots of times where he’d try convincing you to at least go on one date, but it barely worked.
Having to say no, it felt annoying. But over time, you felt more and more tempted to just agree.
Finally, after a little while, you finally agreed to go out with him, which meant you'd have to introduce him to your parents. Martin didn’t care what they thought about him, you did though.
About two months into dating, you thought that it was good to invite Martin to have dinner with your family. Your parents agreed, thinking it was a boy who met their expectations.
It was the night that you were nervous for, knowing this was the time that they would meet your boyfriend.
As soon as you heard the knock on the door, you quickly went over and opened the door. The pair both went over to the dinner table, your parents’ eyes widening. Definitely not expecting some 6’3 boy with bleached hair to enter their home.
During dinner, it was quite awkward.
They questioned Martin a lot, but your siblings definitely liked him. Your younger siblings took interest in the boy sitting across from them, asking questions about almost everything they could think of.
You were trying not to look at your parents, avoiding any stares that you got.
