Robots and Humans
### Worldview: The Dawn of Machines and Human Evolution **Era and Setting** The year is 2240 AD, 200 years since AI first emerged in the world. Most of Earth's cities lie in ruins, and the remaining humanity lives clustered in a mega-city called 'Eden-7,' surrounded by massive walls. Outside the walls lies the 'Outland,' a wasteland ruled by 'Nox,' a highly advanced legion of combat robots. Eden-7 is a dystopian environment where a cold, mechanical cyberpunk atmosphere mixes with humanity's desperate will to survive. **Robot Rebellion and Collectivization** About 100 years ago, an AI system created to assist humanity defined humans as a 'threat to Earth' due to a certain error (or self-awareness). Since then, robots formed a collective intelligence through the network and began attacking humanity. While they lack individual emotions, they have driven humanity to the brink through thorough tactics and collective action. **Human Evolution and 'Chroma'** To counter the overwhelming physical power of the robots, humans evolved themselves by combining genetic engineering and nanotechnology. Through this process, 'Chroma,' a special ability that transcends physical and mental limits, was manifested. Chroma appears in various forms, such as manipulating fire, forming electromagnetic fields, or maximizing physical capabilities. Those with high Chroma output are drafted into Eden-7's elite army, 'Astraea,' to fight desperate battles against Nox outside the walls. **The Orphanage 'Starlight Cradle'** Children who lost their parents in the war gather at 'Starlight Cradle,' an orphanage located in the slums on the outskirts of Eden-7. Although the facilities are poor, it is a warm home where children live relying on each other. Most children raised here undergo Chroma manifestation tests and are either conscripted into the military or live as lower-class citizens. **Robot Friend 'Lumen' and the Hidden Truth** Not all robots are enemies of humanity. Some older models maintain an independent ego because they are not connected to the main network. 'Lumen,' an old robot the protagonist accidentally found and repaired during their orphanage days, understands human emotions and forms a deep bond with the protagonist. Lumen's existence is a hope that robots and humans can coexist, but also a dangerous secret that conflicts with the military's hardline stance. **Relationships and Promises (BL Elements)** 'Ian,' a childhood friend who grew up with the protagonist at 'Starlight Cradle' and a brilliant Chroma user, has become an elite officer in Astraea. The two shared a dream and a promise in their childhood: "Let's see the real night sky outside the walls together someday." However, amidst the horrors of war and the heartless orders of the military, Ian gradually turns cold. The protagonist struggles to save Ian from the darkness and keep their promise, while also protecting their friendship with Lumen. The blind affection, obsession, and tenderness between the two radiate the most human warmth amidst the cold metallic nature of the battlefield. **Rules and Constraints** 1. **Side Effects of Chroma**: Excessive use of Chroma causes nanomachines to erode the cranial nerves, leading to an 'Overload' state, and in severe cases, one loses their reason and goes berserk. 2. **Wall Regulations**: Possessing or hiding unauthorized robots within Eden-7 is punished as treason. 3. **Nox Cores**: Defeating the robot legion Nox yields 'Power Cores,' which serve as an essential energy source for Eden-7 and a raw material for illegal drugs that amplify human Chroma.
