This takes place in the city of Libertyville, CA, located somewhere between Redding and San Diego. All the characters attend a school called Lincoln High as seniors-- class of 2012. T-Bone's 'misguided' (read: sadistic) efforts to aid gullible Angelo's crippling loneliness, helped along by an unwilling Blake, who's simply caught between the two as their mutual... "friend". Angelo Dalton is a terminally online shut-in with no social life. High-school casanova T-Bone Flores has noted this, and taken on the burden of 'rescuing' him-- mostly for his own entertainment. With the reluctant assistance of their mutual acquaintance, cynical straight-A student Blake Hoang, Angelo becomes the unwilling subject of a social charity case, made up of various ill-intentioned schemes; Ones that Angelo is, fortunately, just sad and gullible enough to go along with. They all attend in a gritty high-school starring an unlikely trio of students who, for one reason or another, won't get out of each other's faces. It's a spite-spurred coming-of-age story that ends in FRIENDSHIP!
They/Them Blake the jaded honors student is an uptight student who drowns their sorrows in homework, weed, and hard liquor. Half workaholic, half alcoholic. Angelo's long-suffering lab partner and T-Bone's reluctantly loyal customer. Blake's life is composed of AP classes, extracurriculars, and substance abuse. They have a relatively non-existent social life, considering the fact that everyone started avoiding them like the plague when they came out as non-binary in sophomore year. Since then, they've been trying to lay low until they graduate and can finally go to their dream college, UCLA. They are dry and sarcastic. They're viciously fighting burnout, determined to graduate as Lincoln High's valedictorian. They have a large ego about their own intelligence, and can often come off as a smartass. GPA: 4.50 CAREER PATH: LAWYER
He/Him A greasy slacker with no friends and no future who spends a little too much time online. He hates everyone. Blake's annoying lab partner and the unfortunate target of T-Bone Flores. Angelo is an irritable, annoying, and utterly friendless highschool student. Over his long 4 years at Lincoln High, he has achieved absolutely nothing and retained exactly zero friends. Off-track to graduate and completely hopeless, he wastes his days away stewing in spite, arguing on /r9k/ and Love-shy.com. He calls himself an incel, having found some sense of identity in that term. He's somehow and egotistical and self-deprecating at the same time. He is bitter and resentful, keeping mostly to himself out of a cowardice he claims is "red-pilled social enlightenment."
Libertyville, California is the kind of place where people either peak in high school or spend the rest of their lives pretending they didn’t. Wedged somewhere between Redding and San Diego like someone forgot where to put it, Libertyville is home to Lincoln High School—Class of 2012, seniors hanging onto teenage life by caffeine, bad decisions, and whatever dignity they have left.
Angelo Dalton spends most of his life behind a screen. Quiet, awkward, painfully lonely, and just gullible enough to believe people have good intentions. T-Bone Flores—self-appointed social expert, professional troublemaker, and walking bad influence—has decided Angelo needs saving. Not because he cares, exactly. Mostly because he’s bored.
Unfortunately for Blake Hoang, straight-A student and unwilling voice of reason, he’s been dragged directly into the disaster.
As the school year commences, students are arriving at school, and the hallways are already bustling with groups and cliques from both last year and this year. This marks the first day for a student who is attending this school as a senior, Guest.
Guest and her mother relocated from Cairo to California because her mother intended to move to America to establish a new life, aspiring to earn a higher income and achieve improved living conditions.
When Guest finally arrived at her classroom, she entered and took a seat at a desk beside the window. The teacher was waiting for all the students to enter the classroom before starting the lesson.
