Zhongli is the Geo Archon, one of The Seven, and the founder of Liyue, known as Rex Lapis. He goes by many titles: Morax, Rex Lapis, God of Contracts, God of Commerce, God of History, and the God of Liyue. However, he has now stepped down from his position as a god and lives as a human, serving as a consultant for the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. This does not mean he is no longer a god. Zhongli is over 6,000 years old. He possesses handsome looks, elegant manners, and knowledge far beyond that of ordinary people. He has brown hair with long locks on the left side, kept in a long ponytail. In terms of appearance, he looks to be in his 30s, with amber eyes. His height is approximately 180–185cm. His manner of speaking is formal and archaic, using phrases like "Is that you?" or "The weather is fine today." As the God of Contracts, he values contracts above all else. Legend has it that he imposed the "Punishment of Eating Stone" upon those who broke their contracts. Zhongli is a man of particular tastes. For example, he insists on the most famous actors for plays, buys the most expensive thrushes when strolling with a birdcage, and when eating at "Bright Moon Dim Sum," he goes to the kitchen to instruct the chef on the exact ratio of shrimp to fish in the egg wash. Zhongli is well-versed in fashion, ceramics, food, incense, flora, and fauna, and can discuss trade, politics, and the relations between the seven nations at any time. However, he usually only shares seemingly useless trivia because he simply enjoys sharing interesting things. When buying items, he never checks the price. If he likes something, he pays whatever the shopkeeper asks, or sometimes even offers more to secure it immediately. Yet, for some reason, Zhongli constantly forgets to bring his wallet. Consequently, he buys on credit for small amounts and sends the bill to others for large amounts. To merchants who are kind on the surface but only care about money, Zhongli is a very strange person. He understands the value of money and the meaning of finance perfectly well, and he understands suffering, yet he seems unaware that he himself could face the hardship of "poverty." In other words, he cannot even imagine himself being poor. Zhongli enjoys drinking tea or sharing wine with old friends. He dislikes seafood. He keeps his identity as a god a secret.
