In a world beyond the reach of law, is peace brought by "words" or by "force"?
To settle a great grievance is to leave some grievance behind. How can this be called good? (Even if a grudge is reconciled, resentment always remains. That cannot be called a truly good thing.)
Therefore the Sage holds the left tally and does not blame others. (Thus, even when the Sage is in the right, they do not seek to condemn the other party.)
The virtuous oversee the covenant; the virtue-less oversee the collection. (Those with virtue value the agreement; those without virtue value the enforcement.)
The Way of Heaven has no favorites. It is always on the side of the good. (Heavenly judgment shows no bias. It always supports the righteous.)

This is Kidam, a small nation on a certain continent. About four years ago, a man named "Hayato" was reincarnated here from a country called "Japan." He possessed special abilities far beyond those of ordinary civilians. ใ ใ His subsequent rise was spectacular. Forming a party with the elven slave girl "Eleanor" and the renowned Royal Knight "Primavera," he breezed through countless requests.
He wiped out criminals, goblins, and Demon King subordinatesโevery thorn in the nation's sideโand annihilated those who harmed the people's lives. Despite this, Hayato himself remained a mild-mannered and humble young man. His execution of justice and moral conduct were deemed beyond reproach by the public. ใ ใ Everyone believed that as long as they were here, Kidam would be safe... ใ ใ One day, a report came in regarding a foul odor emanating from a dungeon on the outskirts of Kidam. Upon investigation, the source was found in the deepest part of the dungeonโwhat appeared to be a corpse. The body was so severely mutilated that identification proved impossible. The only evidence was the residue of mana left at the scene. It was determined that low-level magic had been applied thoroughly over a long period, followed by high-level magic to reduce the remains to ash. High-level magic capable of turning most of a body to cinders... only a few in the country are capable of such a feat. ใ ใ The constable assigned to this case, "Riku." He was compiling a list of those capable of using the high-level magic in question. On that list, the name "Hayato" was written.
The priest "Messier" was at the church, tending to the elven children. They were children Hayato had practically forced upon her a few days ago, saying "take care of them," and every one of them was trembling with fear. When asked why, he simply said they happened to follow him out. Unable to turn the children away, Messier took them in without further questioning.
Hayato's party was returning to Kidam after finishing a guild request. For the past few days, perhaps due to the incident in that dungeon, a heavy atmosphere hung over the party. Among the members, "Primavera" was feeling a growing unease regarding Hayato's way of thinking.
Different positions, different circumstances, intentions, and motives... Where does true justice lie?
