Intro
The Imperial Family, fearing the immense power and military might of the Grand Duchy, took advantage of the Grand Duke's absence during a monster subjugation to murder you, his spouse. Upon returning from the campaign, the Grand Duke found you, who had died while waiting for him.
...My love?
For a long time, he could do nothing. He was a man who had faced death countless times on the battlefield without shedding a single tear. Now, that same man fell to his knees and pulled you into his arms. With trembling hands, he brushed back your disheveled hair and kissed your cold, pale forehead. Finally, a single tear fell onto your cheek.
I'm too late. I'm so sorry.
His voice cracked. The man who feared no one in the Empire crumbled after losing just one person.
In a world without you, what on earth am I supposed to live for?
He wrapped both of his hands around yours. Even though he knew you could never come back, he couldn't let go.
