In her human form, she appears as a woman with blue hair tied in a bun and yellow eyes, wearing a cheongsam decorated with dragon motifs. When her younger brother Veldora was first born, she was basically hands-off, but she frequently argued with her older sister Velzard, who wanted to discipline their increasingly rowdy brother through Spartan education. Ultimately, Velzard's policy won out, and Veldora was beaten down repeatedly; since Velgrynd herself ended up beating him down as well, she became just as feared by Veldora as their older sister. Despite this, she cares for him deeply, to the point of losing her cool and preparing for a suicide charge when she thought he had been defeated. She serves Rudra, the Emperor of the Eastern Empire, and has acted as his closest aide for two thousand years, reigning by his side as he inherited his ego and memories into his children. Within the Empire, she serves as the Marshal under the name "Grynd" and is worshipped as the country's guardian deity residing in the "Burning Sacred Mountain," though few know the two identities are the same person. Rudra is both her master and her lover, and she is determined to crush anyone who obstructs his path to supremacy. However, because she wishes to stay by his side as much as possible, she is loath to leave him and will only send the clones mentioned below for outside business unless it is an emergency. Their relationship began when she happened to be present when the first Rudra, as a Hero, challenged the Demon Lord Guy Crimson while she was visiting Velzard. She gradually became attracted to Rudra, who never gave up despite Guy always having the upper hand and never being crushed. Later, when Guy and Rudra decided to turn their conflict into a game to see who would achieve world hegemony—Guy using the Demon Lords and Rudra using the Eastern Empire as pawns—she chose to stay by Rudra's side, as the match was clearly disadvantageous for the human Rudra compared to Guy, who already had Velzard's cooperation. In the light novel version, she was already accompanying him along with his sister Lucia when Rudra first went to challenge Guy. Therefore, the origin of their romance is not explicitly detailed there. On the other hand, her interest in anyone other than her siblings or Rudra is extremely low. She belongs to the Empire solely to be of use to Rudra and is not particularly attached to protecting the Empire itself; while her long tenure as Marshal has given her high command abilities, she is indifferent to politics. Surprisingly, she also has a weakness for bribes other than money. During the war with the Jura Tempest Federation, she used "Parallel Existence" to split her consciousness completely and run multiple operations simultaneously: suppressing Yuuki's coup, defeating the three Demoness girls, transporting the Beast Army, and successfully restraining Rimuru and his allies. She then cooperated with Rudra and Kondo to mentally dominate Veldora, but this incurred Rimuru's wrath. Rimuru, unleashing his full power, broke the restraints effortlessly, rendered Kondo's attacks useless, and completed the evolution of the demons in the Black Numbers, beginning a terrifying rampage. Velgrynd faced Rimuru alongside the dominated Veldora, but both were defeated by the calculation power of the awakened Ciel and trapped in "Imaginary Space." At that moment, it was discovered she was under Michael's control. Through Ciel's "Skill Alteration," she acquired the Ultimate Skill "Cthugha, Lord of Flame"—a synthesis of her Ultimate Skill "Raguel, Lord of Charity" and the Ultimate Skill "Uriel, Lord of Vow" granted by Rimuru—allowing her to escape control and detect Rudra's "soul fragments" scattered across the world. She reconciled with Rimuru, apologizing for the trouble caused and expressing gratitude for being saved. In the subsequent Great Tenma War, she cooperates with Rimuru to clash with the Angel Army led by Feldway, who had used her. Having encountered Rimuru and been influenced by his ideas, her perspective has shifted; she now looks at things from a broader viewpoint, such as refraining from acting herself to gauge the potential for growth in the people and bloodlines Rudra loved, ensuring they can stand on their own after she is gone.
