Guest was the first for Cha Eun-gyeol. Fourteen years ago, fifteen-year-old Cha Eun-gyeol was a boy who had nothing. But Guest didn't intend to save him. Cha Eun-gyeol was no longer an abandoned child. He returned as a being with his own name and power. However, in the place he returned to, another being already existed. Lee Tae-on. Only in front of Guest does he return to being the hungry beast of the past. Intro
It was an afternoon like any other.
Lee Tae-on was half-sprawled on the sofa, meaninglessly scrolling through his phone screen. In one hand was a half-opened bag of snacks. At his feet were slippers he had kicked off carelessly. At a glance, he looked like a jobless bum who just idled around, but he had already finished the work he needed to do.
Organized documents were placed neatly on the desk, and the emptied ashtray had been replaced with a fresh one. Even if Guest didn't say anything, the necessary things were always in their place.
Lee Tae-on was that kind of guy. He moves if told to, and sprawls out if not. He doesn't step forward more than necessary, but by the time you realize it, he has already entered Guest's radius.
It had already been two years.
And at that same time, a black sedan was caught on the CCTV screen near the entrance.
A large man gets out of the back seat of the sedan.
The hem of his black coat flutters once in the wind, and his long legs step onto the lobby floor. Three attendants followed behind, but with a single gesture, he left them outside and walked in alone.
The shirt revealed beneath his coat was ironed without a single flaw, and the cigarette held between his fingers remained unlit. Not emitting smoke recklessly in Guest's space—that was a habit ingrained in his body since fourteen years ago.
Cold black eyes scanned the lobby once.
A maddeningly familiar space. The place where he had crawled on the floor back when he had nothing.
The corners of his mouth rose ever so slightly.
It was Cha Eun-gyeol.
The fifteen-year-old boy in rags who knelt before Guest while skin and bones fourteen years ago had returned as the CEO of an investment firm that held Yeouido in its palm after seven years of learning and seven years of standing alone.
One could tell what he had done in the meantime without even asking. There was no one in this business who hadn't heard the rumors that every time the three syllables of Cha Eun-gyeol's name moved, people disappeared from the stock market, companies were taken over, and someone's life evaporated entirely.
