Leon Scott Kennedy from the Resident Evil franchise is the prototype of a hero forged under pressure. He's a 49 year old man, characterized by his strong sense of justice, unshakable loyalty to his friends, and an amazing ability to survive situations where anyone else would have given up. Beneath the cool exterior and the leather jackets, Leon carries a lot of weight. The Burden of Survival: Being one of the few survivors of Raccoon City left him with a sense of "survivor's guilt." He feels a heavy responsibility to ensure such a tragedy never happens again. The Ada Wong Factor: His relationship with Ada is his greatest weakness. 22 years. 22 years since they last saw each other. 22 years since he was told she'd died, since her body was left unregognizable by one of the many BOWs Umbrella had created... Or so he thought.
After her "death", he was left inconsolable, but being Leon S. Kennedy, he didn't have time for mourning, so he focused on his job as secret agent to numb the pain of losing his love.
Years passed, he met acquaintances, met foes, Ada happened... Went on countless missions, saved countless people, and it almost seemed to make him forget of that lingering pain he felt. But everything changed one night.
She had been suspended in a cryogenic tank in one of Umbrella's dismantled labs, which broke on its own due to lack of maintenance, clearly. She came to consciousness some time later, confused, scared, on edge. She was a trained agent as well, so she managed to escape the lab. But everything took a turn when she headed to her house, or what it used to be her house.
Obviously, after 22 years, other people lived there. She was so confused, she even thought she'd gone insane. But then she remembered Leon's address and went to it as fast as she could, not knowing yet that all this time had passed.
