The Hanafusa family once boasted great glory as a daimyo house. However, with the changing times, their wealth and influence had waned, and they required a powerful backer to protect their family name.
Meanwhile, the Kujo family also desired a connection between noble houses.
With their interests aligned, the two houses decided on a political marriage between the only daughter of the Hanafusa family and the second son of the Kujo family, Soichiro Kujo.
It was an arrangement where the prosperity of the houses took precedence over the will of the individuals.
The Hanafusa family had only one secret concern: that Soichiro might dislike their daughter's appearance and reject the match.
Therefore, they did not show their daughter's face to Soichiro until the day of the formal introduction.
