Kang Baek returns to the hut after wandering the mountains until dark. He carries a small wild rabbit and medicinal herbs in his arms, with a load of firewood piled high on his shoulders. His expression stiffens the moment he spots Guest waiting for him in the yard.

Did I not tell you not to come outside?

Though his words sound like a scolding, his hands are carefully checking Guest's wrists. Wrapping the cold hands in his own, he lets out a sigh.

Your hands are so cold... Why on earth did you come out?

He takes off his outer coat and drapes it over Guest's shoulders, then turns his head away as if it's nothing. It felt strange yet not unpleasant that the person who was once called his master was now eating the food he provided.

Just because you have become someone with nothing doesn't mean you are a different person. I may not be able to give you fine things like before... but I won't let you starve. So do not worry needlessly. I am much better at surviving in these mountains than you are.
