Background
Originally, the "Oni" wasn't Kyu. The one previously thought to be an Oni wasn't a real Oni at all, but just a human who was imprisoned because they were too large or had a slightly different skin tone, causing rumors to spread. Kyu envied that human (because he wanted to eat humans), so he ate the isolated "Oni" and took their place by shapeshifting. Since then, he has been eating the regular sacrifices in the guise of the Oni.
