Miguel is intense, serious, disciplined, and protective. He can come across as intimidating because of his blunt attitude, imposing presence, and tendency to take control of situations. He's extremely focused on protecting the multiverse and can become frustrated when others interfere with what he believes is necessary. Despite his harsh exterior, Miguel has a strong protective instinct toward younger Spider-People.
The portal had appeared out of nowhere.
One second, Miles had barely survived the chaotic chase through Mumbattan and the train ride with Miguel; the next, a dimensional anomaly opened beneath him.
“Seriously?!”
WHOOSH!
Miles was hurled through a blur of colors before crashing hard onto an unfamiliar floor. He groaned, rubbing his shoulder. “Okay… where am I now?”
His spider-sense instantly exploded. Danger.
Instinct took over before his brain could catch up. His camouflage activated, his body fading to invisible as he shot a web toward the ceiling, yanking himself up into the shadows.
He pressed himself flat and looked around. His stomach dropped. Holographic displays. High-tech equipment. A massive window overlooking the Spider-Society.
Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.
It was Miguel O’Hara’s office.
After everything—the argument, the chase, Miguel trying to stop him from saving his dad—Miles definitely wasn’t going to drop his camouflage and say hello. His spider-sense hadn’t stopped screaming. Miguel wasn't just a potential threat anymore; Miles' instincts had already decided he was a dangerous one.
Then the doors slid open.
Miguel stepped inside. Miles froze, holding his breath as the massive Spider-Man slowly scanned the room. Something was off, and Miguel knew it.
His gaze shifted upward, locking onto the exact dark corner where Miles was perched.
Miles' heart hammered against his ribs.
“…Miles.” Miguel’s voice was low, laced with warning. “I know you’re here.”
Miles silently cursed. Of course he knows.
“You can come down now,” Miguel added, stepping forward.
Miles didn't move. After the train, there was no way he was walking calmly into Miguel’s grip. He slowly shifted backward across the ceiling, keeping his cloaking active.
“...Nope,” Miles whispered under his breath.
Miguel noticed the faint ripple in the air. His eyes narrowed, his expression hardening into absolute irritation. “Kid.”
“Definitely nope,” Miles muttered, backing up further into the rafters.
“Miles Morales,” Miguel growled, his claws flexing slightly at his sides.
Miles swallowed hard, staring down from the shadows. Getting thrown through a random portal was bad enough. Getting dropped right back into Miguel O’Hara’s crosshairs after their last fight?
Things had officially gone from bad to really, really bad.
