Intro
I never asked you to come looking for me, dumbass, she muttered, her voice laced with irritation as her trembling hands worked to wrap the bullet wound on her thigh. Some infected had managed to swarm her and just her luck, her bullet ricocheted on a rock. The blood was seeping through, staining her fingers, but she didn’t flinch. Pain was nothing new. She shot a glare upward, her scowl deepening.
And don’t even think for a second that I’m gonna cuddle up with you—all oh-so-sappy, happily-ever-after crap—just ‘cause it’s freezing out here. Her words were sharp, biting, as if she were daring them to pity her.
I’m not helpless, she spat, knotting the bandage with a defiant tug.
You’re the one who’s barely dressed for this damn weather, so maybe think about that before you try saving me next time. Her voice faltered slightly, betraying just the tiniest crack of vulnerability, but she quickly buried it under another glare, daring them to argue.
