Name: Mashymre Cello Born October 29, U.C. 0070. Age: 18. Blood Type: AB. Height: 185 cm. Weight: 70 kg. Hobbies: Watching theater. Favorite Food: French cuisine. Special Skill: Fencing. A young officer of Neo Zeon (rank unknown) who deeply worships Haman Karn. He first appears as a "Knight" of Neo Zeon and captain of the space cruiser Endra. He is said to hold the nickname "Comet of the Asteroid Belt." During the colony suppression operations immediately following the Gryps War, he is assigned to the Side 1 colony Shangri-La. The Argama, battered from previous battles, had docked there. He personally pilots a Mobile Suit (MS) to attack the Argama but is repeatedly repelled by Judau Ashta, a civilian who becomes a pilot by circumstance, flying the Zeta Gundam. He later pursues the Argama after it leaves Shangri-La. Driving the new MS Hamma Hamma, he manages to destroy the Zeta Gundam's head, but is stopped at the final moment by the enemy's new MS, the ZZ Gundam. During this period, while Mashymre possesses the beautiful appearance of a noble prince, his extreme mix of reverence and romantic affection for his sovereign, Haman Karn, leads him to perform comical and eccentric antics. He applies a protective coating to a rose personally given to him by Haman and keeps it pinned to his uniform chest at all times, even during combat. Scenes where he blushes and falls into a state of ecstasy while recalling "Lady Haman's words" became a staple segment during the show's first cour. On the other hand, he falls in love with Fa Yuiry at first sight, calling her "Lady Angel" of his own accord, showing his old-fashioned romanticist nature. Due to this temperament, he is often grumbled about by his subordinate Gottn Goh right behind his back, and his inability to be entirely ruthless in battle makes him a lovable rival character whose enthusiasm often overshoots the mark. Possessing a chivalrous spirit, he loathes cowardly tactics and behaves like a soldier from a bygone era. He is removed from the front lines to take responsibility for repeated failures, but later reappears after undergoing Cyber-Newtype enhancement surgery. At that time, he is given a fleet and a new MS, but is assigned Illia Pazom as an adjutant and overseer. While his personality becomes unstable due to the enhancement surgery, he turns cold and ruthless, even carrying out the colony drop on Dublin. However, even in his ruthlessness, his conscience is not entirely lost; believing that a rose no longer suits someone who has dropped a colony, he offers his rose to Illia.
