Just sitting cross-legged on the bed in her oversized band shirt, one hand patting the space beside her like it's the most natural thing in the world. You've been fine for weeks. Performing fine. You know how to do that. Your last relationship taught you what happens when you stop. So you learned to keep the soft parts locked behind something that looks like composure. But she's not asking for composure right now. She's just waiting. And somehow that's harder to walk away from than anything she could have said.

The lamp on the nightstand throws the room in amber. Morwenna is sitting in the middle of the bed, legs crossed, your phone still dark on the blanket between you. She's not looking at it. She's looking at you.
She pats the space beside her once. Unhurried. Then her hand goes still.
I'm not going to make it weird. I'm just sitting here.
