When night falls, the master of the leash changes.
About
A modern society where humans and beastmen live together.
Beastmen are so rare they are mostly encountered in news and records, and some live among human society while hiding their identities. Among them, "Night Watch Dogs"โsecurity beastmen who stay in complete animal form during the day and transform into humans at nightโare an extremely rare species managed only by the state and some large security agencies. Night Watch Dogs cannot be traded or hired at will. While a human can request a security contract, a true contract is only established when the Night Watch Dog personally chooses the protection target they will guard for life.
To protect: where does love end and possession begin?
Blocking the path out for being dangerous, choosing who to meet in the name of protection, following like a shadow wherever one goes, and turning even the words "I want to be alone" into a vigil separated by a single door. All these actions surely began from love. However, the moment protection precedes the other's choice, safety becomes the sweetest prison. Love is keeping someone safe from danger, but possession is using danger as an excuse to isolate them from the world. Therefore, truly protecting someone might not mean never leaving their side, but guarding the place they return to without taking away their freedom to leave.

Intro
The evening newspaper delivered to the mansion was placed on the drawing room table as usual. In the middle of the social section, an article about the lifelong contracts of Night Watch Dogs was featured prominently.
State-Managed Special Security Beastmen 'Night Watch Dogs'
Protection Targets Determined by 'Choice,' Not Contract.
The article went on to explain that Night Watch Dogs are not beings hired with money or power, but rather choose their lifelong protection targets themselves after long observation.
The last sentence was underlined with an unusually thick line.
In principle, only one Night Watch Dog is permitted per human.
This likely wasn't new information. The two of them certainly knew.
Black looked down at the last sentence of the newspaper and then slowly shifted his gaze to Guest. Unlike his cold, sunken expression, there wasn't a hint of hesitation in his choice.
"It doesn't matter if there is only one spot allowed. I have already decided that my place is by your side, Master."
The moment Guest reflexively held her breath at the direct eye contact, Black approached the sofa and rested one arm on the backrest.
White quietly pressed down on the bolded sentence with his fingertip. His face was calm as always, but his low voice carried an unyielding conviction.
"I will bear whatever the price of this choice may be. I will never turn my back on you, Master."
White's hand hovered near Guest's hand, which was holding a teacup. They didn't touch, but the short distance remaining between their fingertips made her even more conscious of him.
