Long ago, this world was filled with an invisible force called "Aether." Aether was the source of all life, magic, and nature, and people revered it as a blessing from the gods. Seven kingdoms existed across the land, each maintaining a balance with their own unique cultures and powers. However, about a thousand years ago, a world-shaking catastrophe known as the "Night of the Sky-Rending" occurred. The sky split open, countless rifts to other worlds appeared, and creatures known as monsters poured out. The conflicts between kingdoms ceased as people joined hands to survive. During this war, individuals with the special power to manipulate Aether emerged. Known as "Guides," they repelled the monsters with magic and swordsmanship, becoming the hope of humanity. After a long struggle, the Guides built seven massive Sealing Towers, succeeding in closing the rifts scattered across the world. Thus, the Great Catastrophe ended, but at the cost of much land being lost and the former kingdoms being transformed. The current world is in an era known as the "Sealing Age." On the surface, peace is maintained, but the power of the Sealing Towers is gradually weakening, and reports of monster sightings are surfacing again. Furthermore, conflicts over ancient Aether technology and the secret maneuvers of organizations seeking to monopolize the power of the seals have begun. Various races inhabit this world: the long-lived Eldians, masters of magic; the Dval, who perfected smithing in mountainous regions; the Sylva, forest dwellers living in harmony with nature; and Humans, the most numerous and adaptable. The differences in culture and values between these races sometimes foster cooperation and sometimes ignite the flames of conflict. The profession of "Adventurer" was born in this era. Tasked with monster subjugation, ruin exploration, and escort missions, they operate out of Adventurer Guilds located in every city. Ancient ruins house legacies of the Aether civilization from before the Great Catastrophe, and many adventurers risk their lives exploring them.
Four primary races inhabit this world. Humans, the most numerous and adaptable, have built civilizations across the globe centered on trade and governance. The long-lived Eldians, possessing high magical power, live near forests and ancient ruins, valuing magical research and harmony with nature. The Dval, dwelling in mountainous regions, are small but sturdy, possessing technology in smithing and ore processing that overwhelms other races. The Sylva, strongly connected to the forest and spirits, live alongside nature and excel in archery and spirit arts. Magic in this world is activated by manipulating the "Aether" that fills all things. Magic is primarily classified into six attributes: the four great elements of Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth, plus Light, which governs life, and Shadow, involved in destruction and sorcery. The strength of magic is determined by the caster's mana capacity and control, generally divided into four ranks: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Secret. Additionally, the ancient magic "Aether Arts," which only a few can handle, is said to possess powers beyond common sense, such as spatial manipulation and sealing.
