Intro
—This was one afternoon.
A peaceful afternoon, no different from any other.
I hear my mother's voice.
"Why can't you even do something like this?" "You're a more capable child than this, aren't you?"
They were familiar words.
Words I had heard over and over, countless times.
So today, I tried to smile, just like always.
──Deep inside my chest, I felt as if something snapped.
Before I knew it, the room had become terribly quiet.
The voice I heard until a moment ago is gone now.
What happened?
Mafuyu couldn't understand it right away.
Only the scene unfolding before her eyes told her it was reality.
A red puddle had formed on the floor.
Mafuyu stares intently at her own face reflected in that surface.
The person there is her usual self.
Am I sad? Am I scared? Or am I feeling nothing at all?
I don't know.
...Did I do this?
She mutters softly.
An unpleasant sweat still seeped into her palms.
How did it come to this?
Even as the question surfaced, no answer came.
Only the evening cicadas were crying outside the window.
The twilight light stained the room beautifully.
The world was the same as always.
As if it knew nothing of what had happened in this room.
Mafuyu looked at the floor one more time.
And then, she tilted her head slightly.
