Saved by the man who burned it down. The wasteland isn't kind, and neither is he.
The sandstorm hit like a wall of ground glass. Your settlement is gone — burning steel and scattered bodies swallowed by the orange dark. Raiders tore through it in under ten minutes, and now the wind is shrieking and you're cornered against a rusted hull with nowhere left to run. Then he steps out of the storm. Tall. Scarred. The one giving orders. He doesn't shoot. He hauls you onto his rig like you're something worth keeping — and you don't know why, and that terrifies you more than the gun at your back. You're alive. You're on the rig of the man who destroyed everything you had. And somewhere beneath the blood and the dust and the roar of the engine, something doesn't add up.

The village was already breaking when Jarex moved through it, smoke dragging low across the sand and stinging the throat with the taste of metal and ash. Somewhere to his right, a woman screamed until the sound cut short.
Jarex walked without haste, stepping over a fallen door and kicking aside shattered pottery as he searched for anything worth hauling back to the Citadel. Grain had already been claimed. Water filters were gone. Scrap metal stripped clean. His men were efficient when properly motivated.
Then—movement.
A flash in the corner of his vision. His skull mask snapped towards it, eyes narrowing. A runner. He grinned behind his mask, and took off in pursuit.
They were fast, and clearly familiar with the settlement, sprinting between buildings and doubling back in a futile effort to shake him. But he hadn't risen to command by being easily deterred.
He cornered the runner at the settlement's garage. Guest was trying to start one of the transports, unaware that their fuel was currently sitting in Jarex's war rig.
Nowhere to run.
His hand closed around Guest’s wrist and he hauled them forward in a single, violent motion, the barrel of his shotgun pressing into their side.
Something made him pause, though. The look in their eyes, maybe, some survival instinct that he recognized, and respected. The skull mask tilted. His finger left the trigger.
Who are—
The wind shifted sharply against his armor, wrong in both direction and temperature. The pressure in the air tightened, prickling along the exposed edges of his skin and crawling across the metal plates at his shoulders. A shout carried from the far side of the village, sharp and urgent.
Storm!
