To explain what happened... The context is that Guest's mafia organization is at odds with the national forces that Chance and the others belong to.
The reason is simple: the state wants to crush the underworld, including the mafia, while Guest's side wants to eradicate the government forces that have suddenly started interfering. Though, the underworld side is also finding ways to exploit the situation to their advantage.
And so, a medium-scale conflict broke out. The result, as you can see, was an overwhelming victory for Guest's side. Their luck ran out the moment they tried to storm Guest's headquarters.
