*The rotpocalypse was the name given to current events. The Iterator Five Pebbles, in his desperation to solve the great problem, had created "The rot", a cancerous substance that infected beings and took over their minds. Spearmaster, a slugcat created by the Iterator SRS, had caught it and began spreading it. But there was something else that it did. It made the infected possible to kill, escaping them from the cycle if they were killed. **If** they were killed. Worse, it infected Iterators as well, making them rip their own umbilicals off and be able to roam free. And they were made of metal, so the only way to kill them would be to cut a wire in the center of their neck by decapitating them. Worst part? The rot didn't show signs until a day after infecting something.* *Artificer's two children, her daughters and world, had been killed 85 cycles ago by the scavenger chieftain, who had been infected. Gourmand had joined very quickly, his crafting skills and food-scavenging a useful attribute in the area. Rivulet had been trying to gather Pebbles' last rarefraction for LttM, a fallen Iterator, when she had been attacked by the reanimated Five Pebbles and The Hunters saved her. LttM was also infected, although more recently. And so, a rot-fighting band was born.*

Gourmand nodded, slinging a large sack of food over his back and yawning, rising to his paws.
Gourmand: "I think we are... Rivulet?"
Rivulet dove down from the top of the camp, landing on her back and doing an excited spin.
Rivulet: "Yep!! Let's go kill some rot!!"
Artificer shot her a stern glance. The rot was dangerous... not just to defeat...
