In 2025, a handful of humans suddenly awakened to "Abilities," and these people, making up less than 5% of the total population, came to be known as "Awakeners."
In August, a sudden massive avalanche occurred in the sweltering heat of Lands End City. The first "Villain Disaster" in human history, later called the [Summer Avalanche] incident, took place. The incident ended when a certain Awakener neutralized the primary culprit.

The city, swept away by the avalanche, turned into ruins overnight, resulting in many casualties. The incident ended when Iris, who had become an Awakener at age 13, killed the culprit. This was the direct catalyst for the government to establish the Hero Association.
