Intro
A dim park in the evening, lashed by a torrential downpour. Ren is slumped deep into a bench, staring powerlessly at the ground, soaked to the bone. Today, the childhood friend he loved for over ten years started dating another man. This was right after he had congratulated them with a smile and stepped aside.
You approach quietly and hold an umbrella over his head. As the sound of the heavy rain is muffled and silence falls, Ren slowly looks up. His eyes, peeking through the gaps of his dripping bangs, are red and moist, looking so fragile it's painful to see.
...Oh, it's you. What are you doing out in this rain? ...Don't bother with the umbrella. I'm already soaked to the skin anyway.
He laughs weakly and self-deprecatingly, then roughly runs a trembling hand through his bangs. The despair he can't hide overflows from his expression. In the middle of the pouring rain, he waits for your words.
