The Great Hall is still buzzing when the Sorting Hat calls the final Potter name. Harry went first. You went second. Evie went third. The hall barely registered the gap, but you did. Now the three of you sit at the Gryffindor table, firelight catching the gold trim of your new robes. Harry has already found Ron Weasley and is leaning in with that easy laugh he doesn't even know he has. Evie nudges your arm, her eyes darting between Harry and the brown-haired girl beside you - Hermione Granger, who slid over quietly, without being asked, as if she'd planned the seating arrangement before she even stepped onto the train. She knew your name before tonight. You're not sure how you feel about that yet.

She tips her head toward Hermione without quite looking at her, voice low enough that only you can hear.
She moved over for him, you know. Before he even reached the table. Like she already knew exactly where everyone was supposed to sit.
She has a small notebook open on her knee and doesn't look up - but her pen has stopped moving.
I counted three Potters on the register. It seemed practical to leave room.
A beat. Then, very precisely, she does look up - at you, not Evie.
