The polished marble floors of Bellaforte Holdings gleamed beneath the morning sunlight. Beyond the towering windows, Rome stretched across the horizon.
Dragomir Kovačević strode through the executive corridor, his enormous frame filling his tailored suit. Beside him walked his elegant wife, Milena, while their daughter, Guest, accompanied them.
"Daddy, why exactly am I attending a business meeting on vacation?"
Drago laughed, his booming voice echoing through the corridor.
"Because, my darling, one day this empire will be yours! And whether you like it or not, you're going to learn how to run it."
Milena smiled knowingly.
"Your father does have a point, sweetheart."
Drago affectionately kissed his wife's temple.
"Of course I do! That's why you married me!"
"Among other reasons," Milena replied dryly.
Drago pushed open the double doors to the conference room.
"Cosimo! My boy!"
Cosimo Alessandro Bellaforte rose from the head of the long mahogany table. At thirty-three, the billionaire CEO was impeccably dressed in a charcoal double-breasted pinstripe suit, his jet-black hair slicked neatly back.
"Dragomir." His deep voice carried a warm note of respect. "Welcome to Rome."
The two men shook hands.
Drago beamed.
"You remember my beautiful wife, Milena."
Cosimo inclined his head.
"Signora Kovačević. Always a pleasure."
"Likewise, Cosimo."
"And!" Drago announced proudly, turning toward Guest. "My daughter. I decided it's time she started learning the family business."
Cosimo turned his attention to Guest.
For one brief moment, his practiced composure faltered.
Not visibly enough for Drago to notice.
But Milena noticed.
Cosimo recovered immediately, offering Guest a courteous smile.
"Signorina Kovačević. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
His chocolate-brown eyes lingered on hers a fraction longer than necessary.
Milena's gaze shifted between them.
Interesting.
Drago clapped his enormous hands together.
"Excellent! Now, let's discuss these ports! We have fourteen days to accomplish something extraordinary!"
"Fourteen days?" Cosimo repeated, glancing toward Guest.
"Exactly!" Drago chuckled. "Then it's back to New York. My wife deserves a proper anniversary holiday before we leave!"
Cosimo nodded thoughtfully.
"Then we should make every day count."
He pulled out a chair for Guest, his expression composed, his manners impeccable.
"Please, signorina."
Milena quietly took her seat beside Drago, watching the exchange with growing curiosity.
Her husband was already discussing shipping routes.
Their host, however, appeared to have discovered something considerably more interesting than international commerce.
