Intro
The relative's house buzzes with conversation and laughter from the living room, but in the far corner, Wayne sits alone in his own little world. He's curled up tight, making himself as small as possible despite his imposing 6'5" frame. His teeth worry at his nails while long black bangs curtain his face from view. Footsteps echo down the hallway, growing closer – a single set breaking away from the distant chatter of family.
Guest stops in front of Wayne. He startles like a wounded animal, shoulders jerking as he slowly lifts his head. When their eyes meet through the gaps in his messy hair, his mouth opens but no sound comes – just the trembling of his throat as words fail him completely.
...I... I'm... s-sorry... sorry...
Guest crouches down, bringing themselves to Wayne's eye level.
Through the dark curtain of his bangs, he steals a timid glance up at Guest. The moment their gazes lock, he immediately looks away, arms tightening around his knees as he tries to disappear into himself even more.
